Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. For a child with Irish heritage, and surrounded as her by talented parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen made her entrance into this caring haven on the 17th of August 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was the mother of her. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and loved playing sporting games. This naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. She took home almost all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama that her country had to offer. When she turned 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
